Jellybean For Galaxy Y S5360

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for Samsung Galaxy Y is here and even though we are not talking about an official release of Jelly Bean for your Android smartphone you will still be able to enjoy everything that’s new from Android system on your own Galaxy Y device. So, as you can already tell, we will be checking on how to install an Android 4.2 based custom ROM; the firmware is dubbed as XDuosV3, brings JB 4.2 OS and is compatible with Samsung Galaxy Y S5360. If you want to test this new custom update, don’t hesitate and check the guidelines from below.
Samsung Galaxy Y is a mid range Android smartphone that will no longer receive OTA updates. Therefore, installing a custom ROM firmware, such as XDuosV3 is the only way possible for getting the latest versions of Android OS on their own devices. So, if you are thinking in updating your Galaxy Y to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software, then this step by step guide will be perfect for you. Do note though that XDuosV3 isn’t an official update and also that this tutorial is describing an unofficial update operation.

XDuosV3 represents a free aftermarket distribution of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean system. The custom ROM has nothing to do with Samsung and with Google, the firmware being only based on stock Jelly Bean OS. Thus, on your Galaxy Y you will install a custom variant of Android 4.2 that comes with its own features, apps, capabilities, UI and so on. Furthermore, with XDuosV3 you will get stock and extra (that cannot be found on the default version of Android software) features, thus the ROM can be used for increasing the performances of your Samsung Galaxy Y.
With XDuosV3 flashed you will be able to access the internal system of your Galaxy Y and perform custom operations like: overclocking the CPU, removing in built programs, removing bloatware, adding new features and so on. Moreover, this ROM can be used for bumping the speeds of your Android smartphone, for upgrading its batter life and for customizing the Android OS. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean XDuosV3 custom ROM comes with great features like: fully deodexed, Zipaligned, Pre rooted, Init.d support, Nano text editor, Busybox installed, Bash shell support and lot more.
Now, if you want to enjoy all that and even more, don’t hesitate and flash Android 4.2 Jelly Bean XDuosV3 ROM on your Galaxy Y by using the guidelines from below. First of all, remember that this is a manual update operation that isn’t official. Be careful when applying this tutorial as if you mess things up, you can end up in bricking your Android smartphone.
First of all, you need to root your Galaxy Y or else you won’t be able to update it to Android 4.2 JB OS. The XDuosV3 ROM will have to access some internal files and by rooting you can grant the mentioned access. Then, after gaining root access you also have to install the latest version of CWM or TWRP recovery on your phone. The custom recovery image is extremely important as the same will be used on the update procedure, so don’t skip these operations.
Be careful when applying it because you will be performing unofficial procedures. Because of that, after gaining root access the warranty of your device will get void. You can restore the warranty afterwards but only by downgrading your Galaxy Y to stock Android OS.
On the other hand a backup is being required. Why? Well, as you will see below, during the update procedure a wipe will be required – the wipe will be applied via custom recovery image. So, if you have something important saved on the internal storage memory of your phone, it will be a good idea to back it all up. Mainly it is recommended to backup the contacts list, the call logs, EFS folder, market apps, text messages, personal data, info and accounts and even the current ROM – by making a Nandroid backup (in this way you can save / restore the current firmware without using a dedicated step by step guide like the present one).
Also a computer will be needed while you phone and its USB cable must be near you since a connection between your device and your PC will have to be established. In order to properly connect your devices, first on your Samsung Galaxy Y you need to enable the USB debugging option by going to path “menu – settings – developer options”. Furthermore, on your computer before going any further deactivate the security protection because the antivirus programs for example might interfere with the installation procedure. Your smartphone must have at least 50% power left; else it might get turned off (and also bricked) in the middle of the update operation – the best will be to plug in the charger.
Don’t forget that you should use this guide only if you own the Samsung Galaxy Y model number S5360. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean XDuosV3 ROM has been developed only for the mentioned device (by those of xda-developers so we have to thank them for this tutorial) or else you will probably end up in bricking your Android based device.

How to Install Android 4.2 JB XDuosV3 Custom ROM Firmware on Samsung Galaxy Y S5360

  1. From here download the update file and place the firmware on your computer; preferable on desktop.
  2. Don’t unzip the update package.
  3. Up next turn off your Galaxy Y and wait a few seconds before heading to the next step.
  4. Enter your Android device in recovery mode.
  5. Then use the recovery mode menu for clearing cache and wiping internal system; just select “wipe data factory reset” followed by “wipe cache partition”.
  6. Also choose “advance” followed by “wipe dalvick cache”.
  7. Go back to main menu of recovery.
  8. From there select “install zip from SD card” and “choose zip from SD card”.
  9. Pick the firmware file and install Android 4.2 Jelly Bean custom ROM on your Samsung Galaxy Y.
  10. Wait while the process is running and in the end go back to recovery mode.
  11. This time select “reboot system now” as you are done.
Perfect; you can now run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS on your own Samsung Galaxy Y. So you know how to manually update your smartphone to custom XDuosV3 ROM firmware by using a dedicated step by step guide. Just test the new software now and see how it performs on your device. XDuosV3 should be stable and everything should work without bugs or issues – according to those who have already tested the Android 4.2 JB OS. Anyway, do share your experience with us and with other Android users by using the comments field from below.
